Boozey Chocolate Pumpkin Pie

My husband Drew dies over pumpkin pie. So this year I made it my mission to create the most amazing pumpkin pie recipe I could think of. I started watching countless episodes of cooking shows as well as reading tons of my favorite food blogs. After hours of research I decided to make a bourbon chocolate pumpkin pie with a vanilla being whipped cream. Yes it sounds like a lot of ingredients, but oh my pumpkin pie is it worth it! I hope you guys have as much fun making this as we did, if you are a bourbon van you could easily replace it with your favorite booze. Cheers to a happy Thanksgiving! Now get your grub on!

Boozey Chocolate Pumpkin Pie


Vanilla Bean Whip!



Chocolate Pie Crust

¼ cup plus 1 Tbsp. Dutch-process unsweetened cocoa powder

3½ tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1¼ cups plus 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

8 tablespoons (1 stick) chilled unsalted butter, cut into pieces

2 large egg yolk

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

1/4 c ice water

Pulse cocoa powder, granulated sugar, salt, and 1¼ cups plus 1 Tbsp. flour in a food processor to combine. Add butter and shortening and pulse until mixture resembles coarse meal with a few pea-size pieces of butter remaining. Transfer to a large bowl. You can also use a whisk in dough cutter if you don’t have a food processor, it works just as good!


Whisk egg yolk, vinegar, and ¼ cup ice water in a small bowl. Drizzle half of egg mixture over flour mixture and, using a spatula, mix gently just until combined. Do not over work the dough! Add remaining egg mixture and mix until dough just comes together (you will have some unincorporated pieces)


Form dough into a 1”-thick disk. Wrap in plastic; chill at least 1 hour.


Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface and transfer to pie dish.




Pie Filling

1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin

1 (14 ounce) can EAGLE BRAND® Sweetened Condensed Milk

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 Tblsp Vanilla Bean Paste

3 Tblsp Bourban (or booze of choice)


Mix all ingredients together and pour into the prepared crust


First Bake for 15 minutes at 425


Then reduce heat and Bake for 40 minutes at 350


Let cool



Vanilla Bean Whip Cream


1 small carton whipping cream

1 vanilla bean or 1tblsp vanilla bean paste

2tblsp powdered sugar

Optional: 2 tblsp kahlua


Whip until thick and fluffy.
